There is no need for any prior dance, cheer, or tumbling background as we welcome all to experience the joy of dancing. Students may be separated by level into groups for the ballet class and/or choreography. Children are encouraged to wear their favorite dance clothes. Camps are a week of dance, tumbling, and cheer with fun, hands on activities!
*Camp dates and times are subject to change and/or cancellation. In the event of change, you will be notified in advance. In the event of cancellation by , you will receive a full refund. All camps must have a 3 student minimum enrollment.
BDC Summer Camp Descriptions
Dance Camps
Video Camp
BDC presents the 3rd annual video dance camp. The hottest camp around! Students will rehearse and shoot their very own dance music video complete with costumes and choroegraphy. Choreography will be taught the first 3 days of camp in studio. On the 4th day we will hold camp at New Harvest Park, across the street from the studio, where we will shoot our video. Each dancer will receive a DVD of the edited video. Ages 3-18 welcome. Ballet, Tap, Jazz and Hip Hop dancers, as well as cheerleaders and tumblers are encouraged to attend! There will be something special for everyone! Check out our video from summer 2008.
Ballerina Princess Dance Camp (Ages 2-4)
Dancers will be introduced to the beauty of classical ballet through the study
of classic fairy tale princesses, such as the Little Mermaid, Snow White,
Rapunzelle, Jasmine, Cinderella, Thumbelina and Sleeping Beauty. Dancers
will participate daily in ballet classes, creative movement activities, and crafts
related to the fairy tale of the day. They will learn about the
Princesses through storytelling and re-enactment of the classic Fairy Tales
through movement. Costumes and props will be developed during the week
by the dancers to bring to life the magic of each of the Fairy Tales.
Teddy Bear Tea (Ballet)
Bring your favorite Teddy Bear to the ballet studio where curtsies, plies and pirouettes fill the week. Create a tutu for your Bear so that it can join in on the fun and fashion! We will have tea with and work with basic social and dining graces.
Butterfly Fairies (Ballet)
Welcome to an enchanted week of butterfly fairies. Take the grace and beauty of a butterfly then add the magical powers and spectacular outfits of a fairy! We'll design and make antennas, wings and lovely flowers to dance on. Plan to flitter and flutter about!
Tutus and Tiaras (Ballet)
Does your little one dance around the house pretending to be a ballerina? Then send her to Backstage Dance Company where she will take a ballet lesson every day. She will decorate a real pointe shoe with jewels to take home as a souvenir. We will introduce several different classical ballets learning how dancers tell stories with pantomime and dance steps. We will have tea and work on basic social and dining graces.
Nutcracker Magic (Ballet)
Experience the beauty and the magic of the world's most enchanting children's ballet: The Nutcracker. Would your child like to be Clara? The Nutcracker Prince? The Sugar Plum Fairy? The Snow Queen? Drosselmeyer? Dancers will learn and act out many parts of this charming ballet story. Beginner and Intermediate students welcome.
Disney Dancin’ (Jazz/Hip Hop Combo)
Dance to your favorite Disney tunes! Kids will even learn a routine straight from Pluto himself! Camp will have daily crafts and snacks. Dancer’s will learn Disney Character routines as well as popular routines from High School Musical and Camp Rock. Don’t miss out!
Around the World Dance Camp! (Ethnic & Character Dance Styles)
Take a journey around the world through dance! Each day we will explore a different country’s dance style. We will be using a props and costumes specific to each country and dance. Each day will include a craft and a snack. The last day of camp will be a performance for the parents showcasing the styles of each country we visited during the week! New dancers as well as advanced dancers are welcome and encouraged to attend this exciting camp!
Mini Dance Intensives
Pick the ones you like. Take one, take ‘em all! Each class will be divided by beg./int and int./adv. No previous dance training required. Take advantage of these mini intensives! Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, Cheer, Tumbling, Modern, Musical Theater, Lyrical, and a class dedicated just to Leaps & Turns. This is a great time to try a dance style that you are unfamiliar with.
Musical Theatre Camp
This camp is an introduction to the Musical Theatre genre for students. This camp will provide young students the opportunity to explore acting exercises, simple movement for musical theater, and an introduction to singing. Students will learn songs and movement from current and classic musicals in preparation for an end of camp performance. This class will be open to all levels of students; beginning students with little or no experience in the Performing Arts, as well as students who have had previous stage experience. This course combines the traditional styles of jazz, ballet and tap into a fun blend of "Broadway" style dance. You will learn techniques, steps and combinations commonly used in musical theater dance. Students will continue to develop vocal skills while learning how to act through a song.
During camp, students will complete one or more of the following:
1. Cold Readings from either a musical or play.
2. Group Voice Lesson: focusing on proper breathing, projection, diction and intonation, as well as preparation for auditions.
3. Broadway style dance combinations.
4. Solo, Duet, or Group Performances. The students can request what they feel most comfortable doing, but sometimes might be encouraged to step out of comfort zone.

Tumbling Camps
Into the WILD!
This animal themed tumbling camp is for ages 4-5. Kids will learn to tumble and then apply their new skills to act out specific animals. They will have a craft and snack daily. At the end of the week they will showcase what they have learned in a performance for all parents to attend.
Rockstar!
Learn to tumble like a rockstar! Kids will balance tumbling activities with rockstar dance moves and karaoke! Sounds like a party to me! Kids will make a surprise craft to be worn at the end of the week for the parent karaoke tumbling showcase. Camp will include a snack daily.
An Olympic Event!
Make history with our Olympic inspired tumbling camp for age 9+. Tumblers will be learning a little bit of several different Olympic events, such as track, shot put, tug a war, etc. At the end of the week we will be having a mini Olympics, where students will compete against each other in teams and individually. The winners will get trophies! The week would be focused on getting in shape and learning healthy habits while doing it in a fun way.
Cheer Camps
Will provide basic tumbling, dance, jumping, stunting, and motion training, with focus on general skills and instruction in performance technique and choreography. Each week of camp will have a different theme along with crafts and a snack daily.
Cowgirl Cheer Camp
Get ready for a week filled with activities that celebrate everything western! Join us for: great crafts, fun games and friends!
Beach Beauty Cheer Camp
If you like the beach, this week is for you! This week is all about fun in the sun (indoors)! Join us for great crafts, awards, games and more. And yes, don’t miss our Cheer Beach Party!
