Backstage Dance Company has been educating young dancers in the Knoxville area for the past 4 years. We started small in a single room 850 sq ft studio and have grown to our new gorgeous location offering 6,000 sq ft of studio space!
*The studio has:
* 3 large and fully equipped dance rooms
* proper dance flooring
* wall to wall mirrors
* professional ballet barres
* music studio
The studio also features viewing monitors to look into each studio for everyone’s viewing pleasure.
We believe our studio teaches much more than technique alone. Discipline is a critical part of any learning environment, and with positive reinforcement we strive to instill respect, music appreciation, recognition of others’ efforts, the building of strength and stamina and cooperation.
At Backstage Dance Company, instructors organize their classes according to guidelines that are part of a comprehensive curriculum. Our method insures that your child is working at a level that matches their ability and will challenge them, but not be so advanced that it will frustrate them. At Backstage Dance Company your child will learn proper technique in the proper order. Unlike other studios that focus solely on "tricks" (large leaps, multiple turns and extensions) we focus first on the basics. The core fundamentals are the most important. There are studios whose dancers may be able to do the "fancy" tricks but are not able to correctly execute a basic plie' or tendu.
We take our work and our art seriously, attending workshops on a regular basis to continue our education, so that we may offer to our students the latest warm-ups, progressions and routines.
Classes are arranged according to age and level, with instruction based on age appropriate skills.
Like many other schools the programs represent the founding ideal of the once a week, no audition necessary dance classes for boys, girls, teens and adults, culminating in a professionally produced Holiday Production in December, and end-of-year Recital each June.
