Our main goal with our students, is to make music learning fun and enjoyable. We incorporate learning notes, rhythms, songs, and flash cards, through fun games and activities.
We teach our students to play or sing with confidence and poise. As students progress in their ability, we teach them how to play duets, compose music, and play in ensembles if they are interested.
**We are currently offering: "2 Free Trial Lessons." Call Ms. Susan at: (865) 661-8175 for more information or to schedule your 2 Free Lessons. Ask us how you can learn two different instruments for the price of one.
Special Classes Offered:
Pre-school Music Classes
KiddyKeys - is a method that enables and encourages each child to learn about the piano and music in the learning style that best meets their needs. Children experience weekly improvisation on the keyboard, music theory, and composition, are combined with the traditional elements of music and movement, incorporation of school readiness skills, and character development. This program gives children an excellent foundation to carry over to any instrument they want to learn in life. We do this through fun theory activities with crafts, games, visuals, and many hands on activities. In this program depending on your child's age we also use: WunderKey and Roadtrip books.
School -age Classes
Girl's Chorus
We offer a girl's chorus for our students on Friday evenings. This is a one-hour class where we learn to sing as an ensemble, as well as small groups. We work on teaching our girls to have confidence when they sing, stage presence, how to take care of their voice, sing correctly, use a microphone, and prepare for auditions. This class is for elementary - middle school students.
Composition Club
This class meets once a month, on Friday nights for an hour. Our composition club is open to students of all ages. In this class, students learn all the steps and skills needed to learn how to write their own songs. We love to let our students be creative.
Bucket Drumming Rhythm Club
We are excited to be having our bucket drumming - rhythm club this year. It will meet once a month on Friday nights. In this one hour class, we will be learning basic drumming skills as well as working on rhythms through bucket drumming, boom whackers, creating home-made instruments, playing cup rhythms. This class will enhance students reading and counting skills of rhythms, that will carry over to any instrument that they play. We will also be learning to play and perform as an ensemble.
Parent / Child Classes
We offer lessons where you and your child can take lessons together. You both will be working one on one with a teacher. We have had many families through the years take lessons together. It is great for a child to see their parent learn something new.
Parent Class
We offer a FREE class for parents, every 2-3 months. This class is for parents that have children enrolled in our music classes. In this class we teach parents the basics of the piano, guitar, or harp so you will be able to help your child at home and not feel frustrated. We will also teach you the best strategies to work with your child, so it will be enjoyable for both of you. We will teach you some basic theory to help with hand placement, note reading, etc., and we will have a question and answer time. We do require our parents to sign up in advance for this class, so we can make sure we have
enough handouts run-off. Parents are not required to take this class.
Student Fun Night
We offer a "Student Fun Night" every couple of months for our students on Friday nights. This is a two-hour class where we do fun games, performance time for interested students, a craft, and supper. This class is optional.
Summer Music Camps
We offer music camps in June and July. Stay tuned for details about our upcoming camps for the summer.
Recitals
We do have recitals in the fall and the spring for our students. This is a great time for students to invite their friends and family. Recitals are not required for our students. Some students enjoy taking lessons for their own enjoyment instead of playing for others.
Harp Rentals
For our students that take harp lessons from us, we do have a limited supply of harps to rent to our students. We offer a 29-string floor harp for rent for $45.00 a month. These are great little studio harps for students. They are very light weight, and only weigh 14 lbs.. We also do custom orders for harps if time permits in our schedule.
